By Clarke Rice, Karen Ward, Keith Redfern

RRP: £22.00

A new resource, 'Digital Technology for CCEA AS Level' (9781780731162) is being written for the revised specification, with publication due in September 2018. See link at the bottom of this page.

This resource covers the previous AS and A2 level ICT specification from CCEA.

See below to download sample pages in PDF format.

Following the same headings as the specification, it covers the externally assessed modules AS 1 (Components of ICT) and A2 1 (Information Systems).

The resource is fully illustrated with diagrams, screen shots and photographs and is supported by numerous real world examples of the concepts and situations being described. Tasks are found throughout the book and are designed to encourage pupils to look at various aspects in more detail and to gain an appreciation of the complexity of the issues associated with real world ICT.

The basic text is enhanced with extended quotations from recent media articles and advertisements that focus on issues in ICT today. Where appropriate, these have been chosen to be particularly relevant to Northern Ireland pupils.

All 31 chapters terminate with a series of questions designed to test pupil knowledge and assist with revision. A web site to accompany this book includes extended examples of databases and other material.

The authors represent the two essential elements required to produce a textbook of this standard. Clarke Rice and Karen Ward have current teaching experience of AS and A2 ICT. Keith Redfern has been working as a computer scientist in industry for a number of years. This is thus a standard text for the classroom which will lead students into the real world of ICT.
